Ethan Briggs, LISW-S, LCSW

Hi! I'm Ethan, and I'm really glad you're here.

Looking for a therapist can feel overwhelming. I’ve been there myself: scrolling through profiles, trying to figure out who might actually get it. My hope for you here at Healing Spaces is that you’ll feel seen, supported, and safe enough to bring your full self into the room (comfy clothes, snacks, and laughter absolutely welcome).

I work with adults navigating anxiety, trauma, religious deconstruction, and identity exploration – often all at once. Whether you’re feeling stuck in survival mode, struggling to feel at home in your own body, or just completely exhausted from holding it all together, I’m here to walk with you through the mess and toward something more sustainable.

Sessions are available via secure telehealth, offering therapy to clients located in both Ohio and California. You can attend sessions from the comfort of your own space, whether that’s your couch, your car, or anywhere you feel safe. Therapy should fit into your real life, and virtual sessions make that possible.

For California clients in Marin County, in-person sessions are available.

A Real Approach to Healing

I blend evidence-based therapy with the messiness of real life. You’ll find EMDR, CPT, and CBT woven into my work – but you might also hear me suggest screaming Taylor Swift in the car or binge-watching Great British Baking Show as a valid coping tool. Healing isn’t linear. It’s deeply personal. And it should include both structure and softness.

We’ll work together to build on the strengths you already have while learning new, lifelong tools to manage stress, process trauma, and reconnect with yourself. Your healing might involve grieving, setting boundaries, rediscovering joy, or learning how to be safe in your own skin again. Whatever it looks like for you, I’ll meet you there.

Why This Work is Important to Me

Helping others is in my DNA. I come from a long line of caregivers: social workers, teachers, nurses, firefighters, and more. But it was my own mental health journey, and the mental health challenges faced by loved ones, that drew me to this path. I know the deep impact of loss and struggle. And I know how powerful therapy can be when someone finally feels seen and supported without having to explain or justify their pain.

That’s why I created Healing Spaces. It’s a place where therapy is more than a checkbox, especially for those whose pain has been ignored, dismissed, or spiritualized away.

Here’s What We Can Focus On

  • Anxiety & trauma-related disorders

  • Religious trauma, faith transitions & spiritual deconstruction

  • LGBTQ+ identity & mental health

  • Financial trauma & money-related anxiety (Certified Financial Social Worker)

  • Life transitions, burnout, grief, and boundary work

Healing is Possible

I believe trauma is subjective. You don’t need to justify what happened to you for it to matter. If it’s impacting your day-to-day life, your self-worth, or your ability to function, that’s enough.

And while I can’t wave a magic wand and fix everything for you, here’s what I can promise you: I show up as a real human. I’ll celebrate your wins, sit with you in hard moments, and offer practical, personalized tools to help you move forward.

At the end of our first session, my goal is for you to feel one thing: hope. Even if it’s small. Even if it’s uncertain. I want you to know that healing is possible, and that you don’t have to do it alone.

When I’m not in session, I’m usually with my husband, two sweet dogs, and one very curious cat. I love traveling (favorites so far: the British Virgin Islands and the 2024 Olympics in Paris… such a dream!), discovering new music, and going to concerts – I’d have to say my top three include Adele, Taylor Swift, and Dua Lipa.

I’m always looking to try new foods and learn about the cultures and stories behind them. Mexican food is my go-to comfort meal, though carbs (Italian, I see you) are always welcome. On weekends, you’ll find me watching Law and Order, Grey’s Anatomy, Queer Eye, or The Great British Baking Show – or catching a Broadway show or local band whenever I get the chance.
